Well, spring has finally arrived, after what has felt like the longest, wettest winter in living memory! The daffodils are in full bloom, and seeing a little sunshine again really does lift the spirits.
And just like those spring bulbs quietly preparing beneath the soil, we too have been working away behind the scenes…
We’re delighted to share that preparations are underway for our next Community Play. Conversations are beginning with an exciting writer/director who is interested in collaborating on the project, and we’ve also been in touch with several other creative professionals who are keen to be part of the DCPA adventure. It’s an energising time, and the momentum is building!
Over the past few months, we’ve been out and about gathering ideas, chatting with people at community events, and listening carefully to what you’d love to see next. And you certainly haven’t been shy! The ideas, stories and suggestions have been flowing, and it’s wonderful to feel such enthusiasm for the next production.
We’ve also been taking time to celebrate our previous plays with our “Remembering” days. It’s been truly special reconnecting with cast members, sharing photographs and memories, and welcoming new faces who are curious about getting involved. There’s something powerful about revisiting those shared creative experiences and seeing how much they still mean to people.
And there’s more to look forward to this month…
At the end of March, we’re delighted to be hosting two improvisation workshops led by Jon Oram of Claque Theatre (formerly Colway Theatre Trust, pioneers of the community play movement since 1978). Alongside the workshops, the Claque Theatre Company will also present two performances of improvised plays.
